new year new blog

i somehow lost track of time and realized i'd been neglecting my site for a whole year :')

coming back to it, i wanted to move to an even simpler blogging format, so i'm now using the wonderfully easy Strawberry Starter. big thanks to its creator, Kate Bagenzo, for swiftly answering a question i had about setup.

in the time since my last update, my husband and i have moved into our first apartment without roommates, which has been so, so nice, just having our own space and enjoying married life together. it's just a studio, but we coexist around each other so well that it feels like plenty of room. i also tried really hard to plan the space efficiently, which i'm proud of myself for doing! so in the new space, i've just been doing a lot of cooking and cleaning and generally being a male housewife.

we also got into DnD not too long after my last update, and in the year since we started our campaign, it has completely consumed us. like, we are absolutely deranged about our characters. we have purchased so many dice. i went into the campaign having no experience and very little knowledge about DnD, so i was just like, "i'm kinda shy but sure, i'll give this a try, it might be fun..." and then Something Happened, lmao.
that's actually largely why i wanted to get back to my site: i plan to post about The Characters™ here, because i swear i have never in my life loved an OC like this, and DnD has brought out the most creativity i've felt in a long time. i've already done a bunch of art that i'd like to post, and maybe i'll upload some of the writing i've done...90% of that writing has been self-indulgent smut, but hey, the internet always needs more of that!

another new thing for me is i switched to Linux for the first time! i installed Mint on our desktop PC right after we moved, and my husband just bought a new laptop so i installed it there too. what a breath of fresh air for someone who's only ever used Windows. i'm feeling very comfortable using it, but still learning all the ins and outs of how Linux works, and even when i'm confused about how to do something i kinda love how much it feels like being a kid learning to use the computer again.

that's about all for this post, i think. see you next time, blog, hopefully sooner than a year this time :)
