hi! thanks for stopping by.

i'm Surge, just a spooky little gay with a website. sometimes i make art, sometimes i write, but mostly i'm just vibing. i'm a very lazy artist, but i try to draw somewhat regularly, and i have plans to open a shop in the future as well. i've recently become an Official Old by entering my 30s, and i'm happy about that! as you can imagine given my age, i've been kickin' around the web for a long long time, but this is actually my first time running my own site.

why have a personal website?

i keep this website because the internet should always be more than shopping and social media. that's not to say i think social media and ecommerce are inherently evil and universally Bad, though— i owe many dear friendships, and even my marriage, to social media, and as someone who wants to open my own store someday, it's great that online shopping gives small artists a chance.

but...i feel like it's not crazy to say that when i go online, i should see more than nazi rage bait and someone trying to sell me dick pills and Temu earbuds. right?

there's also the fact that, on my own website, i can be as queer and fat and weird as i want without my mere existence being flagged as "adult content", and without chuds in the replies offering the aforementioned rage bait and dick pills. i can express my personality and things i find beautiful far beyond a profile picture and a bio. and, with my own website, i can connect with other people like me who have their own sites too!
